Meeting Minutes Jan 15 2024

Special Guest Speaker, Kylie, from Manitoba Horse Council via Zoom

MHC 50th anniversary, doing club spotlights (DRM Jan 31st)

Virtual team events:

Register as individual by April 15th 2024

MHC asking the clubs to promote, individuals can only sign up for one discipline, even if competing in more than one.

Crocus (grassroots shows) series:

Cost $35 per competition, unsure how DRM would fit.

Webinar series:

Ask a Vet, Transporting Horses, Running an Equine Business, and Ask a Steward

2024 Grants:

Sport MB Funding, Official in Training Grants (up to $750/yr), Return of Win Your Entry.

Treasurers Report:

Current bank balance approximately $12000.00.

Currently 8 2024 adult members, 1 family.

Brief discussion on insurance requirements, re Tack Sale.

 

MHC report – Christine:

No report due to MHC presentation

Fundraising Report – Andy:

Will have tack sale, saddle showcase/saddle fit April 27 2024.

Blackbird Rescue space free again.

Discussion re contract with CPTC.

Need to purchase large coffee maker.

Discussion on volunteers, Carrie/Christine supervise saddle fit and showcase, Tricia supervise the tack building.

 

Year End Awards – Darice:

Kelli managed to complete the 2023 awards.

Darice in charge of 2024 awards.

Promotional Items – Kelli:

No report.

 

Google account:

No issues.

Email list:

Christine has created two lists so some emails will only go to members and some will go to anyone we have an address for.

Website:

• Christine and Mark will work on updating the Website as much is outdated.
• Create a what’s new link.
• Discussion on need to get permission to post people’s pictures, add to membership and registration forms.
• Members test the links to the ride maps.
  
  

Facebook:

• Christine will continue to post updates on Facebook
• Our 2024 events have been added, need members to share to appropriate other groups
• Need a volunteer to take over social media

 

Bylaw review, Policy statements, and Rule Book:

Rider option will require the horse to pass the vet if they have gone back on course since last vet check.

Coggins requirement to stay the same as 2023.

 

New business:

No new business.

 

Meeting schedule – no change

Next meeting April 4 2024 at Christine’s house.

 

Ride Operations:

Birds Hill Park May 11 & 12 2024, RM Carrie and Darice assisted by committee.

Souris Bend August 3 2024 RM Dianne.

Spruce Woods August 24 2024 RM Wendy N.

Belair Oct 5 & 6 2024 RM Tricia.

Ride Fees tabled due to proposed new AERC sanctioning rates.

Placement Ribbons, need to order more HVS and BC ribbons, lots of placement ribbons available.

No further reports on ride operations.
