Join us at the DRM Poker Derby Fundraiser in beautiful Birds Hill Provincial Park.

Saturday, October 11, 2025; 11:00am – 4:00pm
 
Birds Hill Provincial Park, Manitoba (North of the Polo Fields, next to MHC Grand Prix Ring)
 
Pre-Registration encouraged, but not required.
🐎The first 35 pre-registered riders get a free gift from MHC (please contact Andy Dunlop, our event coordinator at 204-990-9782 or frauandy@hotmail.com or via fb messenger to pre-register)

Walk-up registrations accepted at event (all riders must have current MHC #)

> No coggins required

>  On-leash dogs welcome on Pedestrian loop 

>  50/50 Draw

>  1st hand $10 (to be paid at time of pre-registration), any
additional hands $5
 
Bring your own horse(s) and draw playing cards as you ride along our marked 5-mile equestrian trail loop
 
 
OR
 
Participate on foot and draw playing cards as you hike along our marked 3-mile pedestrian trail loop (leashed dogs welcome)
 
 
HOT LUNCH AVAILABLE
*Regular Hotdog or Burger Combo $8.00 (includes small chips & canned pop or water)
*Deluxe Hotdog or Burger Combo $10.00 (regular combo + cheese and/or bacon)
 

*80% of this year’s Poker Derby Fundraiser proceeds will support our Travel Fund for Distance Riders of Manitoba members from which any current member in good standing who qualifies to attend a Regional or National Endurance Championship event can apply for a bursary to help with travel costs (as were awarded for the Canadian Western Regional Endurance Challenge in 2024)

*The other 20% of this year’s Poker Derby Fundraiser proceeds will be held in trust by DRM to assist Elsie Garn, a local DRM Junior Rider, attend her first International FEI 2* Competition being hosted in Chile this November.  
 
This International Endurance ride will help Elsie attain her Elite Status and be a qualifying ride to work towards being selected for the 2027 PanAm games Canadian Endurance Team.

 
 
***Poker Derby Fundraiser Prizes***

We have three amazing DRM club members who have generously donated their services for 1st, 2nd and 3rd best poker hands to be awarded at the event at 3:45pm

1st Prize – One FREE 8×10 Watercolour Horse (or other Pet) Portrait painted and matted to fit an 11×14 frame by local Manitoba Artist, Linda Gillies ($150.00 value – Not redeemable for cash, you provide photo for reference, frame not included)


2nd Prize – One FREE 30 Minute Outdoor Photo Session with 5 edited digital photos within the Town of Oakbank or the RM of Springfield with local Equine/Canine Photographer Darice Whyte. ($100.00 value – Not redeemable for cash.  Additional session time or additional edited photos may be Purchased at regular rates, the 5 FREE and any additionally Purchased edited photo files will be provided digitally)


3rd Prize – One FREE Session of Somatic Massage from Suzanne Regnier-Fakes (Certified Equine Massage Therapist) of Quiet Touch Horseworks ($90.00 value – Not redeemable for cash, mileage fees may apply if horse is outside the RM of Springfield)
